Essential Oil Blends For Men

Aromatherapy is thought to be something that is enjoyed mainly by women. However, there are essential oils and diffuser blends that are enjoyed by men.

When it comes to smell, it is down to personal preference. An aroma that is enjoyed by someone, might be quite unpleasant for someone else.

The same goes for men and women. Many essential oils carry a floral scent that can be referred to as slightly more ‘girly’. It is these scents that men may be reluctant to try.

Although it is completely down to individual preference, some men may be more likely to enjoy essential oils that have more woody scents, like pines, spices, nuts, and citrus oils.

Essential Oils That Men Are Likely To Enjoy

Essential Oil Blends For Men

Below is a list of individual essential oils that men are more likely to gravitate to. These include oils that have less of a floral aroma.

Sandalwood Essential Oil

Sandalwood essential oil, like the name suggests, has a woody, earthy aroma. It is known for being quite calming and soothing, promoting relaxation and reducing stress.

It is commonly used in beard oils, so some men may be familiar with its pleasant scent.

Peppermint Essential Oil

This oil has a cooling and minty fresh aroma that is enjoyed by many. This is a popular ‘manly’ oil and is known for its energizing properties. It is also an essential oil that is known to aid with any respiratory issues.

White Fir Essential Oil

This is another essential oil that is known for boosting energy levels. It also has a woodsy smell, which is also refreshing.

It is an oil that has anti-inflammatory properties, and is also antiseptic, meaning it can help with any respiratory problems.

Cypress Essential Oil

Cypress essential oil is very effective in helping you deal with stress and any nerves you may be experiencing.

It offers a forest fresh scent that has often been used in men’s cologne, meaning they will be familiar with this scent (and shouldn’t complain).

Orange Essential Oil

As stated earlier, oils that carry citrus scents are commonly enjoyed by men. Orange essential oil is sweet and refreshing, giving you a boost of energy when inhaled.

It is also known for helping to calm the digestive system, aiding with digestion.

Ginger Essential Oil

Ginger essential oil is a favorite when it comes to massage oils. It is said to improve circulation, and gives skin an overall healthy glow!

Ginger itself is also known for having anti-inflammatory properties, making it helpful with digestive problems. Ginger essential oil is no different and can help with this issue also.

It has a spicy aroma that is quite distinctive and tends to be enjoyed by men.

Clove Essential Oil

Similar to ginger, clove essential oil also has a spicy aroma that is quite strong. It carries an array of benefits, such as being a home remedy for toothaches and skin infections.

Its scent can bring about a warm, comforting feeling, making it a lovely oil to use during the winter.

Lime Essential Oil

This essential oil has a sharp aroma as if you’ve just cut into a fresh, juicy lime. Who wouldn’t enjoy that smell?

Lime essential oil is known for promoting focus and creativity, as well as increasing energy levels.

Cedarwood Essential Oil

This tree oil carries a woody aroma that is known for being a good mood stabilizer. It can help if you are experiencing negative thoughts, helping you balance them and experience a calming, positive mood.

It is beneficial for the respiratory system also and can help prevent infections.

Lemon Essential Oil

Some simple lemon essential oil can revitalize a room with its bright, citrus fragrance. It is known for promoting feelings of happiness and can boost energy levels.

As mentioned earlier, citrus smells are popular among men, so this oil will not disappoint.

Now that you’re aware of what oils are more likely to be enjoyed by men, you can make some wonderful blends with them to put in your diffuser.

#1 Frankincense, Sandalwood, Lavender

These three essential oils can reduce stress and are overall very calming.

Although there is lavender included that can be quite floral, it does not overpower the woody and earthy aromas of sandalwood and frankincense.

Use 3 drops of frankincense and sandalwood, and 2 drops of lavender in your diffuser.

#2 Lemon, Peppermint, Vetiver

This blend has some energizing effects on the body and mind, due to the peppermint and lemon. It has uplifting qualities, with vetiver adding some depth to it.

Simply mix 3 drops of each essential oil in your diffuser.

#3 Cedarwood, Cypress, White Fir

This combination will have you feeling like you’re in the middle of the forest on an adventure. Each of these oils are tree oils, all promoting relaxation, and feelings of calm.

Mix 5 drops of cedarwood with 3 drops of cypress and 1 drop of white fir. Diffuse them in your home and enjoy!

#5 Lime, Frankincense, Orange

Citrus oils are a favorite for many, so this blend is bound to be popular with your man. The frankincense helps to balance the lime and orange, but the mood and energy-boosting qualities still shine through.

All you’ll need is 2 drops of each oil in your diffuser.

#6 Cedarwood, Lavender, Rosemary, Black Pepper

This blend is great for any respiratory issues, and it can help open up airways. The floral scent from lavender adds a touch of sweetness to the earthy, spicy scents from the cedarwood and black pepper oils.

You’ll need 3 drops of cedarwood, 2 drops of lavender and rosemary, and 1 drop of black pepper.

Final Thoughts

While essential oils are enjoyed by many (both women and men), there are some aromas that men may not choose to use themselves due to them being more ‘girly’.

These are usually the sweet and floral aromas, ones that are likely to resemble women’s perfume.

While many essential oils carry floral and sweet smells, there are countless other oils that lean more towards earthy and woody scents.

It is important to remember that this is all down to personal preference, and what scent someone enjoys is not down to their gender.

This article has given you some individual oils, and some blends that you can drop into your diffuser. Have some fun experimenting with mixing a few!
